Who are we?
The Beach Bots, supported by dedicated engineering mentors, provides High School students an amazing opportunity to learn science, engineering, computer programming, computer graphics, marketing skills, business management skills, and many other career oriented skills in a hands-on environment that emphasizes Christian values and ideology surrounding science and competition.
What do we do?
Each spring, The Beach Bots, along with over 2,500+ other teams, build a robot to compete in the FIRST Robotics Competition. These robots are complex machines that consist of computers, sensors, electronics, motors, chain, sprockets, gears, metal and hardware. Each year, teams are given a new game challenge and have only six weeks to design, build, and test their robot. At competitions held around the world, teams join together in alliances to compete head to head.
What is FIRST?
FIRST stands for For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology. FIRST is a non-profit organization seeking to “inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.” – USFIRST.ORG
